Guild Constitution and By-LawsThe Guild's Constitution contains all the self-imposed laws by which we operate. Without it, the Guild is a rudderless ship, drifting in no particular direction. With it, our purpose is clear; we know what we're supposed to do and why we're supposed to do it. For example, we are mandated to "advance and extend the economic and social interests of [our] members" and to "promote and maintain high professional standards of ethics and practice and to secure the conformance of all buyers, users, sellers and employers to established standards." The Constitution provides the framework by which we set the course for the Guild's future. It explains the roles of Guild officers and how they are elected; it establishes our jurisdiction, defines membership eligibility, regulates the dues structure and explains chapter formation. It determines how and when we can strike. You are strongly encouraged to become familiar with this important document, the foundation of our organization.
