Advocacy Committee
The definition of an advocate is one who supports or defends a cause, policy or idea. The Advocacy Committee promotes and establishes the Guild's causes, policies and beliefs on behalf of our membership. The Guild's work in Advocacy covers many areas such as political organizing and legislation; legal protections, suits and grievance programs for our membership; copyright education and legislation; building coalitions among other creative organizations; and the promotion of sound business practices for the independent graphic artist. Advocacy takes the Guild into a wide range of environments such as corporate offices, congressional meetings, artist's studios and art colleges across the country. The Contract Monitor is published under the auspices of the Advocacy committee and the Campaign for Illustration is also an important part of the work the committee does.

Communications Committee
The Communications Committee oversees Guild publications and furthers the goals of the Guild by making our voices heard on the issues members
face. Two of the committee's main responsibilities are the Guild News, which keeps members abreast of Guild activities and current issues;
and, the Guild web site which works as a member and community resource. The committee also oversees the Graphic Artists Guild Handbook: Pricing
and Ethical Guidelines. Published biannually, the Handbook is an indispensable business tool for graphic artists and their clients providing
updated information on a number of business practices. The committee is currently in the process of enhancing the Guild's brand identity to enable
the Guild to communicate more effectively. The committee works with the National Office Communications Director as well as outside professionals
providing services to facilitate the committee projects.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is dedicated to growing the Guild so that we can continue to improve the ability of visual creators to achieve satisfying
and rewarding careers. This committee helps the Guild to grow in 2 ways: by bringing in new members and by activating current members as
volunteers for the issues and activities of the Guild. The committee is made up of representatives from each chapter as well as other interested
volunteers. The committee works to plan and execute campaigns to bring in new members, keep current members and improve member services.
It also provides training in leadership, meeting facilitation, volunteer recruitment and volunteer management.
