The freelance branch of the National Union of Journalists in the United Kingdom is challenging publishers who make unauthorized online use of freelance articles. The union reports success in freelancers' resistance to rights demands at MacMillan and others. At the same time, the group is urging its members to lobby to changes in laws that affect authors' rights.
