Affinity Group, a southern California purchaser of millions in graphic design, illustration, photography, and copywriting, has circulated a memorandum stating: "Henceforth, it is a requirement that any purchase order that is issued for the purchase of copywriting and graphic design services contain the following language: 'Affinity Group, Inc. is hereby purchasing the unlimited copyright to all material furnished under this agreement.'" Though not quite work-for-hire, these terms are still to be avoided.
