The American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA) reports that the National Law Journal, the New York Law Journal and others in the legal field are asking its writers to agree to the following: "All of your paid contributions to us, including those previously published as well as those to be submitted for future publication, shall be considered as `work make for hire' within the meaning of copyright law." You'd think that those supplying information to lawyers would know better than to foist this illegal contract on unsuspecting creators!
