Setting Goals, Decision Making, Celebrating at the Guild 2001 National Convention
The Graphic Artists Guild held its 2001 National Convention from November 7 - 10 hosted by the Chicago chapter. There, national board members, chapter presidents and committee chairs, and staff made a number of major decisions and absorbed some critical information. Many motions were discussed and actions taken to ensure that the 2001 Convention would lead to positive growth in 2002.

New York, NY, December 17, 2001 - The Graphic Artists Guild (Guild) and Theispot-Showcase have reached an agreement in principle to work together in operating a licensing agency for the direct benefit of illustrators.
Lloyd Dangle Elected President of the Graphic Artists Guild
Effective January 1, 2002, Lloyd Dangle will succeed Jonathan Combs, as national president for the Graphic Artists Guild (Guild), UAW local 3030.

State Board of Equalization victory.
Illustrator Wins Sales Tax Victory in California Supreme Court. A California illustrator has prevailed in her case against that State's Board of Equalization requiring sales tax to be collected on the licenses of reproduction rights to her artwork. The seven justices unanimously agreed that the copyright licenses had been wrongly taxed under California law.
