President's Message
December,
2004
Greetings
All,
I
hope you all are having a
happy, hectic, holiday season!
I know I am. I'm taking a
quick break from marinating
the leg of lamb. Turkey giblets
are simmering on the stove,
filling the house with the
smell of clove and allspice
and turkey. They go into
the stuffing tomorrow. Our
tree is decorated with my
naughty ornaments, angels
and critters, naked and looking
like Pam Anderson. I am trying
to clear my desk and the
top of my file cabinets (a
job for a dedicated archeologist),
I'm finding things that i
thought were long gone. My
wife is working endless hours
in her Benetton store with
the help of a ditsy college
student. My son has to sing
in the Christmas pageant
at church tonight. Tomorrow
we have the whole crew in,
family and a couple of strays,
we party, and try to make
sure that my mother-in-law
doesn't throw the silverware
away in her half-baked attempt
to "help
out".
We wash dishes 'til 2am and
then we collapse.
If
this sounds like your holiday
then you're doing it right.
If your holiday is totally
different then you are also
doing it right. Either way,
I hope you are happy and
well.
The
Guild has had a Ways and
Means meeting and an Excom
meeting since our Annual
Meeting.
Committees
have been formed to deal
with issues brought up in
Vegas and hopefully we can
move ahead quickly with burning
issues, and deliberate on
issues less pressing but
no less important. The '02,
'03 Audit is complete and
delivered, and we look healthy.
The Guild News is in production
and will be out soon. Chapter
moneys will be coming soon.
I
have contacted a couple of
other graphic art organizations
and we have agreed to talk
and look for ways to attack
common problems in the coming
year.
If
you're interested, go to
this link: http://nwrain.net/~monlux/jp.html and
you
will find the
art from my Christmas
card,
jpeg #1 is my son's work
(thankfully he is not
interested
in making art, and jpeg#2
is my painting.
Celebrate now, we have
work
to do in the new year.
